About Kunming
Yunnan's capital spreads along the northern edge of Dian Lake, and its mild weather all year has earned it the name 'City of Eternal Spring'. In winter, gulls from Siberia crowd Green Lake Park, while the cliff-cut shrines of the Western Hills & Dragon Gate look down over Dian Lake. Excursions lead to the limestone maze of the Stone Forest and the patchwork fields of Dongchuan Red Land, and trains run south from Kunming to Laos.
