About Zheng He Park and Ma Haji Tomb Stele
The tomb stele of Ma Haji, father of the Ming admiral Zheng He, stands on the western slope of Yueshan hill in Zheng He Park in Kunyang. Its inscription, composed in Nanjing by the Minister of Rites Li Zhigang before Zheng He's first voyage, records the family's history, and a note on the back records that Zheng He returned to sweep the tomb in 1411. Two steles about Zheng He, put up in 1935, flank it, and the park also has a Zheng He memorial hall.
