China provinces quiz
China has 34 province-level regions: 23 provinces, 5 autonomous regions, 4 municipalities and 2 special administrative regions. Click each one on the map as it is named; the other modes ask for the Chinese names and the capitals. Three misses on a region reveal it and move on.
Press Start, then click each region on the map as it is named.
How to learn them
- Start with the four municipalities, Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Chongqing: small, and three of them are on the coast.
- Walk the coast from Liaoning in the north-east down to Guangxi and the island of Hainan, then the two special administrative regions, Hong Kong and Macau, and Taiwan across the strait.
- The west is three big pieces, Xinjiang, Tibet and Qinghai, with Gansu curling between them and Inner Mongolia along the whole northern border.
- The middle is the hard part: the Yellow River loop (Ningxia, Shaanxi, Shanxi), then the Yangtze provinces in a row from Sichuan to Jiangsu.
- The table of all 34 has each one's capital, Chinese name, pinyin and area; the blank map prints with an answer key.
