About Macau
For more than four centuries Macau was a meeting point of Portugal and southern China, and its historic centre packs baroque church fronts, wave-patterned cobbled squares and Chinese temples into a few walkable streets. The lone stone façade of St Paul's, at the top of a broad stairway, has become the city's emblem. Beyond the old town lie the quiet village lanes of Coloane and Macanese cooking, which blends Portuguese, Chinese, African and South and Southeast Asian influences.
