About Nanchang

Nanchang, the provincial capital, stands on the Gan River near Poyang Lake. Its landmark is the Pavilion of Prince Teng, a nine-storey riverside tower made famous by Wang Bo's preface of 675 and last rebuilt in 1989; the Nanchang Uprising of 1 August 1927 began in the city. Haihun Marquisate Archaeological Park protects the tomb of Liu He, a Han emperor deposed after 27 days in 74 BC, and Qingyunpu was the retreat of the painter Bada Shanren, a Ming royal descendant.
