About Qingyunpu (Bada Shanren Memorial Hall)
Qingyunpu is a Taoist retreat of long standing on the southern edge of Nanchang where the painter Bada Shanren (Zhu Da, about 1626 to about 1705), a descendant of the Ming imperial house, lived after the fall of the Ming; since 1959 it has been a memorial hall to him. Courtyards among old camphor trees hold his paintings and life story, a garden corridor of stone slabs shows more than 120 of his works, and a newer hall built in 2009–10 displays original paintings. Outside the gate lies Meihu Lake, whose shore is the Bada Shanren Meihu scenic area, with newer arts and culture venues.
