About Ge Garden
A salt merchant's garden rebuilt in 1818 by Huang Zhiyun on the site of an older Ming garden and named after its bamboo, whose clustered leaves resemble the character 个 (ge). It is best known for its four-season rockeries, which use bamboo with rock, grey Taihu stone, Huangshan stone and Xuan stone to evoke spring, summer, autumn and winter. The garden is part of the Grand Canal World Heritage Site.
