About Dongguan Street
A 1,122 m flagstone street that ran from the Great East Gate of Yangzhou's old city to Dongguan by the canal, once one of the city's busiest trading streets. It keeps long-established shops such as the Simei pickle shop and the Xie Fuchun cosmetics shop, and along it or just off it are Ge Garden, Yipu, Wang Xiaoyuan and the rebuilt Xiaolinglong Shanguan garden. It was named one of China's famous historic streets in 2010, and the restoration of its houses and gardens won a UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award of Excellence for heritage conservation in 2023.
