About Twin Pagoda Temple

Yongzuo Temple, popularly called the Twin Pagoda Temple, is a Ming-dynasty Buddhist complex in the south-east of Taiyuan whose two octagonal brick pagodas, each of 13 storeys and more than 50 m high, were built between the 1590s and 1612 and appear on the city's emblem. The grounds also hold a brick beamless main hall, a gallery of about 260 steles and peonies that include Ming-dynasty plants. One of the pagodas can be climbed for a view over the city.
