About Historic Structures of Tai Tam Group of Reservoirs

Twenty-two waterworks structures dating from 1883 to 1936 around the Tai Tam reservoirs on the eastern side of Hong Kong Island: dams, valve houses, masonry bridges, a pumping station with its chimney and staff quarters, and the 21-arch section of the Bowen Aqueduct. The extra water they supplied allowed the city to spread east from Central and Western. The Tai Tam Waterworks Heritage Trail passes many of the dams and bridges in Tai Tam Country Park.
