About Jiangnüshi Site
Jiangnüshi is a coastal complex of Qin and early Western Han palace remains on the Zhimao Bay shore, found in 1982 and excavated from 1984 to 2002; it was the first Qin-era travelling palace found outside the Guanzhong region. Its core, the Jieshi Palace site, is a large terraced platform of rammed earth close to the shore, facing three sea-eroded rocks offshore known as the Jiang Nü Tomb, which legend links to Meng Jiangnü and which scholars identify as the 'Jieshi' (Stone Gate) of ancient texts. On the ground there are low earth platforms and foundation lines rather than standing buildings.
