About Kang Yung Study Hall

One of the few study halls in Hong Kong built purely for teaching, this hall in the Hakka village of Sheung Wo Hang was built by the Li clan in the early Qing dynasty and enlarged in the Qianlong reign. It is a simple two-hall building of grey brick, mud-brick and rammed earth, with cocklofts that provided classrooms and living quarters. An inscription records a renovation in 1872, and a full restoration was completed in 1993.
