About Residence of Ip Ting-sz, Lin Ma Hang

Built around 1908 and modelled on Sun Yat-sen's family home in Cuiheng village, Zhongshan, this two-storey grey-brick and timber house belonged to Ip Ting-sz (1879–1943), a tailor who set up a garment factory in Thailand and co-founded the Chinese Association there. The Antiquities and Monuments Office records that he was president of the Tong Meng Hui's Siam branch and gave funds to its revolutionary campaign, and that he returned to Lin Ma Hang in 1936. The house has a covered porch with a balcony, ceramic vase-shaped balusters and murals over the doors, mixing Chinese and Western features.
