About Qingjing Mosque
Founded in 1009 on Tumen Street in the old city, Qingjing is regarded as the oldest surviving mosque in China built in the Arab style, and it is one of the components of the Quanzhou World Heritage site. A tall gateway of dark diabase and white granite with pointed arches and a moon-watching platform on top leads to the roofless stone walls and columns of the original prayer hall. Beside them stand a smaller prayer hall of Ming foundation and a pavilion sheltering Yuan and Ming stelae on the mosque's restorations.
