About Xiaoshang Bridge

A red-sandstone arch bridge over the Xiaoshang River, traditionally dated to 584 under the Sui and rebuilt in early Song style, with one main arch and a small open arch at each end. The arch stones carry reliefs of heavenly horses, lions and lotus flowers, and small carved strongmen at the corners seem to hold the arch up on their shoulders. The scenic area also has a memorial park to Yang Zaixing, a general under Yue Fei who was killed fighting the Jin near the river in 1140.
