About Sanyuanli Anti-British Struggle Memorial Hall

This small brick-and-timber temple to the god Beidi, built in the early Qing dynasty, was where the villagers of Sanyuanli gathered in 1841, during the First Opium War, to form a militia against British troops. Since 1961 it has been the Sanyuanli People's Anti-British Struggle Memorial Hall, displaying swords, spears, the militia's three-star banner, a British army uniform and four old cannon.
