About Peasant Movement Training Institute
The institute occupies the former Panyu Confucian school, founded in 1370 and given its present layout in 1747, whose Lingxing Gate, semicircular pond with arched bridge, Dacheng Hall and side corridors survive. From May to September 1926 it housed the sixth and largest session of the Peasant Movement Training Institute, a school of the first Kuomintang–Communist alliance for training rural organisers, directed by Mao Zedong. Since 1953 it has been a memorial museum on the institute and the peasant movement.
