About Site of the First National Congress of the Kuomintang
The Clock Tower on Wenming Road, built in 1904 for a teachers' college on the site of the Qing provincial examination hall, hosted the First National Congress of the Kuomintang from 20 to 30 January 1924. The auditorium has been restored to its 1924 appearance, with delegates' names on the seats, and the building later served as the main office of Sun Yat-sen University. It also houses the Guangzhou Lu Xun Memorial, recreating the rooms the writer lived in while teaching here in 1927.
