About Wenfeng Pagoda in Anyang
The landmark of Anyang's old town, the brick pagoda of Tianning Temple, first built in 952 under the Later Zhou and 38.65 m tall, whose five storeys widen as they rise to give it an umbrella-like outline. Brick reliefs of Buddhist scenes and columns wrapped by coiled dragons ring the base, and the top carries a Tibetan-style finial added under the Qing; the temple's gate and main halls around it were partly rebuilt in 2001.
