About Cao Cao Mausoleum

The tomb of Cao Cao (155–220), the statesman, general and poet of the late Eastern Han, at Xigaoxue village, excavated from 2008 and confirmed by archaeologists in 2009. The Cao Cao Gaoling Ruins Museum, opened in April 2023, is a hall built over the whole site: it covers the brick tomb with its sloping entrance passage, front and rear chambers and four side rooms, together with the remains of the spirit road, the enclosure walls, ditches and buildings in front of the tomb. Its exhibition of 488 objects includes stone tablets naming 'King Wu of Wei', Cao Cao's title, and twelve pottery ding vessels of the kind reserved for an emperor.
