About Ganzi
Ganzi, Garzê in Tibetan, spreads across the Kham region of the Tibetan Plateau, a vast, thinly peopled land where most people are Tibetan. Mount Gongga, Sichuan's highest peak at more than 7,500 metres, sends the Hailuogou Glacier down into fir forest, and Daocheng Yading guards three sacred snow peaks in the south. From Kangding, the gateway, roads lead on to the Tagong Grassland, the painted houses of Jiaju Tibetan Village and the Derge Parkhang, where scriptures are still printed by hand from woodblocks.
