About Changchun

Changchun, the provincial capital, was Xinjing, capital of the Japanese-run state of Manchukuo, from 1932 to 1945, and the Museum of the Imperial Palace of Manchukuo keeps the rooms where the last Qing emperor, Puyi, lived as its figurehead. Museums in the old film studio and in the FAW works, where the first Jiefang lorries were built in 1956, recall the city's two best-known industries. In winter the Jingyuetan forest park on the south-eastern edge hosts a cross-country ski festival.
