About Ji'an

Ji'an, a Gan River city once called Luling, was the home of the Song statesman Wen Tianxiang, whose tomb is here, and of the poet Yang Wanli. In the south-west, thickly forested Jinggangshan is where Mao Zedong's forces settled in October 1927 to build a rural base. South of the city, the Jizhou Kiln at Yonghe made Song tea bowls with tortoiseshell glazes and leaf patterns.
