About Jinggangshan

The mountain base where Mao Zedong's forces settled from October 1927 and where Zhu De's troops joined them in April 1928, now a scenic area of eight zones around the town of Ciping, including Huangyangjie, Longtan and the main peak. The farmhouses used as headquarters, residences and a hospital were burned after the Red Army left in January 1929 and were rebuilt to their original form after 1949; they can be visited at Ciping, Dajing, Xiaojing and elsewhere, among forested ridges that are in flower with rhododendrons in April and May.
