About Zhengding City Wall

The brick wall of the old prefectural city of Zhengding, which reached its present form in a Ming rebuild finished in 1576; each of its four gates had three layers of defence, the main gate, a barbican and a crescent outer wall. Much of it was pulled down from 1958, but the south gate group, the Changle Gate, and the adjoining stretches have been restored since 2014, and visitors can walk on top of the wall. The old town's temples and streets lie to the north.
