About Yongtong Bridge
A single-span stone arch bridge on the west side of Zhao County town, known locally as the Small Stone Bridge and built on the same open-spandrel plan as the Anji Bridge a few kilometres to the south. It is admired for the relief carvings on its parapets, arch faces and piers, and a local saying credits the big bridge with engineering and the small one with ornament. Its date is debated: stones found beneath it in 1986 point to about 765 in the Tang, while older accounts give the Jin dynasty, and a small park has been laid out around it.
