About Seven Star Crags & Dinghu Mountain (Star Lake)
Zhaoqing's 5A Star Lake scenic area has two parts: the Seven Star Crags, seven limestone peaks rising from the lakes beside the city centre, and Dinghu Mountain, a forested range about 15 km to the north-east. Paths and boats link the crags, their caves and lakeside walks, and the cliffs carry 531 inscriptions from the Tang dynasty onwards, most of them in Stone Chamber Cave, including Li Yong's record of 727. Dinghu Mountain became China's first nature reserve in 1956 and has subtropical forest, waterfalls, mountain streams and the Buddhist Qingyun Temple.
