About Mei'an Temple
A small Buddhist temple on Mei'an hill in western Zhaoqing, founded in 996 by the monk Zhiyuan where, by tradition, the Chan patriarch Huineng had planted a plum tree. Its main hall keeps the beam and bracket structure of the Song period, and the gate and patriarch hall stand on the same axis. The temple is now part of Zhaoqing Museum and holds an exhibition on Huineng's life.
