About Yuzhou Jun Kiln Site Museum

A museum on the Juntai kiln site in Yuzhou, source of the 'official' Jun wares made for the imperial court, whose date (late Northern Song or early Ming) is still debated; the kilns were found in 1964 and excavated from 1974. The building, designed by the architect Qi Kang and opened in 2011, presents the excavated remains and a chronological exhibition on Yuzhou's history and Jun ware drawn from a collection of about 1,500 objects. The national listing also covers the kiln sites at Shenhou, where a separate kiln-site museum is open.
