About Yuzhou Yuhuang Pavilion

A Ming gate-tower on the middle of Yuxian's north wall, completed in 1377 as the Jingbian ('border-pacifying') Tower and later used as a Jade Emperor temple. Its two courtyards climb about 3 m from the gate hall to the main hall, a two-storey building with three tiers of eaves and a green-glazed tile roof, where Daoist murals show the Jade Emperor with 41 attendants and 36 thunder generals. Stone tablets under the hall's eaves record Ming and Qing repairs, and the pavilion is one of the locations seen in the 2024 video game Black Myth: Wukong.
