About Lingyan Temple, Yuxian

A Ming Buddhist temple rebuilt in 1441 and probably founded with imperial approval by the eunuch Wang Zhen; its ceilings, caissons and screens resemble those of Zhihua Temple in Beijing. The Tianwang (Dizang) Hall, Daxiong Hall and side halls survive, and the compound was used by the county's food company until restoration began in 2008. Since the old-town scenic area opened in 2016 it has been a visitor attraction, with an exhibition on Yuxian's grain-farming culture and an underground chamber to see.
