About Shengxian Taizi Stele
A stele set up in 699 on Goushan hill by Empress Wu Zetian, who stayed here on her way to the sacrifices at Mount Song; its text retells the legend of Prince Jin of Zhou, said to have risen to heaven from this hill, and links it to her own reign. Wu Zetian wrote both the heading, in the 'flying white' brush style with bird-like flourishes, and the cursive main text, her only surviving calligraphy, while the back carries a poem and lists of names written by Xue Yao, Xue Ji and Zhong Shaojing.
