About Crane Mosque
One of the oldest mosques in China, founded in 1275 by Puhaddin, an Arab missionary said to descend from the Prophet Muhammad, and rebuilt in 1390 and again in 1523. It is traditionally counted with mosques in Guangzhou, Quanzhou and Hangzhou as one of China's four great coastal mosques, and its name comes from a layout said to resemble a crane. It is still the main place of worship for Yangzhou's Muslims.
