About Bixia Palace, Xun County
A Taoist temple complex on top of Fuqiu Hill at the south end of Xun County's old town, founded in 1542 for the goddess Bixia Yuanjun and enlarged through the Ming, Qing and Republican periods. Past the gate, opera stage and lotus pool, the main hall has carved eaves and paintings of the Twenty-four Filial Exemplars, and a triple-eaved sleeping hall closes the rear court, where a Tang stone pagoda and sutra pillar now stand. It is the focus of Xun County's large first-lunar-month temple fair, a national intangible heritage item.
