About Grand Buddha at Ling Shan

A Buddhist complex on the north shore of Lake Tai, centred on an 88 m bronze standing Buddha, including its lotus base, consecrated in 1997 and assembled from about 2,000 cast panels weighing 725 tonnes in all. An axis leads from the gate past the Nine Dragons Bathing the Buddha, a timed fountain show in which a 7.2 m gilded statue of the infant Buddha rises from an opening lotus, to the Grand Buddha. Beside it the Lingshan Brahma Palace, opened in 2009 with richly carved halls and a domed hall, is the permanent venue of the World Buddhist Forum.
