About Luohou Temple
A Tibetan Buddhist temple of the Gelug school in Taihuai, beside Xiantong and Tayuan temples and named for Rahula, the Buddha's son. Founded in the Tang dynasty, rebuilt in the Ming and converted to the Yellow Hat school in 1705, it is laid out in three courtyards, from a Hall of Heavenly Kings with a pair of Tang stone lions to a rear scripture pavilion. The pavilion holds a mechanical lotus that opens to reveal a Buddha.
