About China Coal Museum
A national first-grade museum on the history of coal, opened in 1989 on the western side of Taiyuan. Its Coal Sea Exploration area has seven themed halls on how coal forms and how it has been mined and used, a four-dimensional cinema and a full-scale simulated mine where visitors wear miners' helmets and try out mining equipment. It suits families and anyone curious about Shanxi's coal industry.
