About Hong Kong Railway Museum
The old Tai Po Market Railway Station, completed in 1913 with a Chinese-style pitched roof when other stations on the Kowloon-Canton Railway were Western in design, is now an open-air railway museum. The station building holds an exhibition gallery, the old booking office and a signal cabin, and the grounds display a narrow-gauge steam locomotive, diesel-electric engines, historic coaches, trolleys and semaphores. The station closed when a new one opened nearby in 1983, and the museum opened in 1985.
