About Shilong South Bridge of the Kowloon–Canton Railway
A single-track railway bridge of 1907–1911 that carried the old Kowloon–Canton Railway over the southern branch of the East River at Shilong, and is regarded as the oldest surviving railway bridge in Guangdong. Built of steel, stone, timber and concrete, it was retired in 2007 when a new bridge opened a short way downstream, and it can be seen from the riverbanks of Shilong town.
