About Keyuan

A compact Lingnan-style garden in Guancheng, built in the 1850s by the retired Qing official Zhang Jingxiu and counted among the four celebrated gardens of Guangdong. Halls, verandas, pools and rockeries are packed into a small plot, overlooked by the four-storey Ke Tower, the garden's tallest building. The painters Ju Chao and Ju Lian lived here for some ten years, and their work is seen as a forerunner of the Lingnan school of painting.
