About Quejin Pavilion Stele
A Ming stone stele of 1542 in the old centre of Dongguan, recording how the Panyu magistrate Li Kai, sent to regulate foreign trade, refused a gift of money from Siamese merchants. The merchants used the money for a memorial arch, pavilion and this stele instead; the pavilion was lost by the 1960s and rebuilt in 1997 around the surviving stone.
