About Zhao Mausoleum (Beiling Park)
The tomb of Hong Taiji, the first Qing emperor, and Empress Xiaoduanwen, built between 1643 and 1651 and part of the UNESCO-listed Imperial Tombs of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. A sacred way of about 1.2 km, lined with stone animals, leads to a stele pavilion, a walled square city with the sacrificial hall and, behind it, the burial mound. The tomb stands in the 330-hectare Beiling Park, a public park since the late 1920s with lakes, pine woods and flower gardens.
