About 9.18 Historical Museum

A museum in north-eastern Shenyang documenting the Mukden Incident of 18 September 1931, when Japanese forces attacked Shenyang, through photographs, objects and audio-visual displays. The present complex, opened on 18 September 1999, grew out of an earlier memorial from 1991 built around the Broken Calendar monument and an underground hall. In the grounds stands a bronze monument put up in 1999 by Japanese orphans left in China after the war, to thank their Chinese foster parents.
