About Angsang Lake Causeway
A stone causeway about 3.5 km long that winds north–south across Angsang Lake on the northern edge of Shaoxing, built in the late Ming and finished after 1642 so that boats could shelter from wind and waves, while also linking the two shores. Its S-shaped bank of dressed stone, paved with large slabs, is broken by five stone beam bridges and has a small stone roadside pavilion carrying Qing inscriptions on its repair. The northern 1.5 km still has water on both sides, while the southern part has had water on one side only since land was reclaimed in the 1970s.
How to get to Angsang Lake Causeway
On the northern outskirts of Shaoxing in Yuecheng district, about 9 km north of the old city by road; the causeway starts at Lintou village in the south.
