About Dashan Pagoda
A hexagonal, seven-storey brick pagoda 40.5 m tall in the centre of Shaoxing, named after Dashan Temple, founded in 504, in which it once stood. It burned with the temple in 1197 and was rebuilt in 1228, then repaired in 1403, 1669 and 1957; the wooden eaves and the stairs inside are gone, leaving a hollow brick shell with doorways and niches on every level.
