About Rock Carvings on Po Toi

These ancient rock carvings lie in the southern part of Po Toi, an island at Hong Kong's southern tip, and are estimated to be more than 3,000 years old. A rock fracture 70 cm wide divides them into two groups: lines resembling stylised fish and animals on the left, and interlocking spirals on the right. They were found in the 1960s and declared a monument in 1979.

Reached by kaito ferry from Aberdeen or Stanley, which the Transport Department lists on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays only, so check the return sailing; the carvings are about 0.6 km south-east of Po Toi Public Pier.
