About Yan Tun Kong Study Hall

Yan Tun Kong Study Hall, also called Yin Yik Tong, is the most important building of the Tang clan in Hang Tau Tsuen, Ping Shan, which villagers say was built to commemorate three of their ancestors and which prepared young clansmen for the imperial civil service examinations. A plaque suggests it was renovated in 1870, and Tang descendants still gather here to worship their ancestors at the spring and autumn equinoxes. It keeps a finely carved ancestral altar and plaster mouldings on the roof ridges and facade, and is a stop on the Ping Shan Heritage Trail.
