About Yuhuang Pavilion, Mengzi

A temple group in central Mengzi whose main building, the triple-eaved Tongming Pavilion founded in 1578, stands about 20 m tall between matching east and west pavilions added in 1734. Behind it are the carved hall of the Jianyang guild, built by Jianshui merchants in 1770, and a Kangxi-era hall of the old county yamen. Run as a Buddhist temple since 2000, it still keeps the Jade Emperor on its top floor.
