About Heritage Exhibition of a Traditional Pawnshop Business
A former pawnshop, Tak Seng On, opened in 1917 for the Macau merchant Kou Ho Neng and restored by the government as a museum of the pawnbroking trade. The building follows the pattern of Chinese pawnshops of the early 20th century, with a fortified tower behind the shop. A visit gives a view of how the pawn business worked in its heyday.
