About Kun Iam Temple, Mong-Há

Kun Iam Temple (Templo de Pou Chai), dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy, is one of the three oldest temples in Macau and one of its largest, with a big entrance gate, roofs crowded with porcelain figures and richly decorated halls around open courtyards. Its present buildings date from 1627, with restorations in 1818 and 1858. In the terraced garden behind stands the stone table where China and the United States signed the Treaty of Wangxia on 3 July 1844, next to four intertwined banyan trees known as the Lovers Tree.
